Yes. Cats and dogs can be imported to Australia during COVID-19 under stricter conditions

  • Live cats and dogs are prohibited from importing to Australia from Malaysia.
  •  A permit to import a cat or dog from New Zealand or Norfolk Island is not required, but conditions apply. 
  • Cats and dogs have to be transhipped via Sydney to the Post-Entry Quarantine Facility in Melbourne.
  • Pets have to undergo at least 10 days of quarantine isolation in the Australian Government Post-Entry Quarantine Facility in Melbourne.

  • Safety measures are in place in schools to ensure that there is no spread amongst the staff and students.

  • In-person learning is available for students from special education who are unable to study remotely.
  • These students and supporting staff must check for COVID-19 symptoms every day before going to school.

  • It is recommended to have initial viewing of the property virtually.
  • Indoor gatherings are limited to a group of up to 6 from any number of households (including children).

  • Open house viewings with multiple households at the same time is prohibited.

K-12 Schools

The Center for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) recommends:

  • K-12 schools should be the last settings to close after all other prevention measures in the community have been employed, and the first to reopen.
  • In-person instruction is prioritized over extracurricular activities (such as sports and school events) to minimise the risk of transmission and protect in-person learning.
  • Families of student who are more susceptible to severe illness (such as those with special healthcare needs) or living with people at high risk are given the option of virtual instruction, regardless of the mode of learning being offered.
  • All schools are encouraged to use cohorting.

Institutions of Higher Education (IHEs)

(Including colleges and universities, community and technical colleges.)

The Center for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) recommends:

* For fully vaccinated IHEs

  • IHEs, where all students, faculty, and staff are fully vaccinated prior to the start of the semester, can return to full capacity in-person learning, without requiring or recommending masking or physical distancing. However, the CDC still encourages students to continued masking and physical distancing for people with weakened immune systems.
  • However, IHEs should encourage handwashing, cleaning/disinfection and respiratory etiquette.

 

* For IHEs not fully vaccinated

  • Mask wearing is required for indoors. Although it is not required to wear masks outdoor, the CDC  recommends that people who are not fully vaccinated wear a mask in crowded outdoor or during activities that involve close contact with people who are not fully vaccinated.
  • People not fully vaccinated should perform physical distancing where they should keep space of at least 6 feet (about 2 arm lengths) between people who are not from your household in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

From 25 Feb, Singapore loosens travel restrictions and opens up 5 new VTLs

  • All students will be able to return to school for face to face lessons.

Long Term Pass Holders

  • New entry approvals for all long term pass holders with travel history to higher-risk countries (excluding Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macao, Mainland China and New Zealand) have been ceased until further notice.
  • All foreigners holding ICA-issued long-term passes (i.e. Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) or Student’s Pass (STP), or In-Principle Approval (IPA) letters for LTVP/STP, who plan to enter Singapore from any country must obtain permission for entry.

Work Pass Holders

  • Work pass holders from higher-risk countries are prohibited from entering Singapore before July 5 except for Construction, Marine, Shipyard and Process (CMP) and migrant domestic workers work pass holders who had obtained entry approval to Singapore.
  • The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) Singapore has stopped accepting entry applications from higher-risk countries with the exception of key strategic projects workers.

  • Individuals who are moving to Germany and outside of the EU are allowed to import a maximum for five animals. However, these animals should be family pets, not meant for trade or to be sold.
  • For those who are moving to Germany and from the EU, quarantine are not necessary for their animals if they can provide proof of vaccinations.
  • Those who wish to bring cats or dogs into Germany from a country outside of the EU must ensure that their pet is vaccinated for rabies for at least 30 days and not longer than a year before entering Germany. The proof of vaccination (EU Veterinary Certificate in German/English) can be downloaded here and must be completed by a vet.

From 15 Jan, all travellers must meet the vaccination requirement and present a negative Covid 19 test within 24-48 hours of departure to be granted entry into France.

Importing Pets To India: Rules and Requirements

International flights to India are suspended until July 13 2021, and all land borders are closed.

  • Foreign national of Indian Origin requires an OCI or PIO card to bring pets into India.
  • Foreign national not of Indian Origin must be relocating to India for work purposes, or live in India for at least a year to import pets to the country.
  • Indians citizens visiting India on a short visa requires a DGFT license to bring pets into India.
  • Owners need to obtain the No Objection Certificate (NOC).
  • Cats and dogs must be vaccinated for rabies for at least 31 days before arrival.
  • The rabies titer test is not needed.
  • Owners need to show proof of the Veterinary Certificate issued by India.

Safe Distancing Rules in Schools

  • The maximum amount of student allowed per class is 30.
  • Students must seat 1.5 meters apart.
  • Masks are required for students in Grade 1 and above.
  • The maximum amount of KG students allowed in a bubble are 10.
  • The maximum amount of KG students allowed in regular class are 25. They must be seated 1.5-meter apart.

Changes to Visa Related Services During COVID-19

  • The UAE had resume issuing entry and work permits.

 

Work Visa

The UAE offers only one type of work permit, known as the labour card. Before employees can apply for a work permit, they will need to obtain the following items:

  • an employment entry visa
  • an Emirate ID card
  • a residence visa

 

After securing the employment entry visa, the employee will be given two months to enter the UAE. Upon arrival in the UAE, the employee is required to obtain a residence visa and work permit within 60 days.

 

Step 1: Obtain An Employment Entry Visa (a.k.a Pink Visa)

To obtain the employment entry visa, the employer must:

  • Apply for a visa quota for their employees through the Ministry of Labour (MOL) UAE. 
  • Submit an employment contract, signed by the employee to the MOL.

 

Step 2: Obtain An Emirates ID Card

In order to apply for a residence visa in the UAE, the employee must obtain an Emirates ID Card to undergo medical screening, which is one of the requirements for residence visa approval. Employees need to apply for their Emirates ID card in person at the Emirates Identity Authority (EIA) Center. 

To apply for an Emirates ID Card, the employee must provide:

  • Entry visa
  • Original passport
  • Copy of the original passport

 

Step 3: Obtain An Residence Visa 

The employee is required to submit the following documents to obtain a residence visa in the UAE:

  • Employment Entry Permit
  • An Emirates ID card
  • A valid passport and photocopy of the passport
  • A copy of the passport photo
  • Medical screening results
  • A copy of the employer company card
  • A copy of the company commercial license.

The residence visa in the UAE is renewable every one to three years.  

 

Step 4: Obtaining Work Permit 

After obtaining a residence visa, the employee may proceed to apply for a work permit in the UAE. To acquire the work permit, the employee will require the same documents required for the residence visa. Then, the employee should complete a work permit application in Arabic, and submit an employment contract or proof of employment offer from their company in the UAE.

 

Study Visa

To obtain a student visa from the UAE, the expatriate student must be over 18 years of age and residing in the UAE. Outstanding students can apply for a long-term visa of 5 years in the UAE. 

 

Key requirements: 

  • Official admission letter from the respective university (freshman student)
  • Certificate of continuation of study (for older students)
  • Proof of passing medical tests
  • A visa sponsor (e.g., the university, parent or relative)
  • approval of the relevant General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

Visit Visa

The UAE offers three types of visa eligibility from 30 days, 90 days or 180 days visa based on the different countries. Should you be visiting UAE for leisure purposes, do take note of the following visa requirements for the different countries.

Updates On Pet Import To UAE During COVID-19 

  • Until further notice, cats entering the UAE will need to spend 14 days in quarantine prior to travel.
  • The issuing veterinarian and the government veterinarian will need to sign an addendum to the health certificate attesting that your cat has no signs of coronavirus infection.
  • Dogs and cats from China are not permitted to enter UAE.
  • All transport of Dogs and Cats from Canada to the UAE has been suspended.
